Nationalism is weak. That& #39;s why you need laws on migrants and tariffs, people won& #39;t sacrifice a dollar for their "nation." Historical trend has it losing to universalist ideologies: liberal internationalism, wokeness, Communism, Islamism, but they keep running into human nature

There was a slight sliver of history when from about 1789 to 1945, when technology was such that gov had a monopoly on propaganda and got people to die in large numbers for their countries without revolting (still need conscription). But that& #39;s not the norm, it was an aberration.
