TOPIC THREAD: Nickelodeon favoured the Dan Schneider shows over the other live action shows. They always promoted his shows at the top of the line up and the other live actions shows would fail to gain an audience.
In the 80s to 96 when Geraldine Laybourne was running Nickelodeon she brought in a variety of shows and paved the network to be known as the best kids network. Here is a schedule from Summer 1991 of programming.
Most of the programming from Summer 91 was only repeated once during the day. As well a variety of creators. Dan Schneider did not start working for the network until 1994 and did not have his own created show until 1999.
Let’s fast forward to 20 years later. Here is a few schedules from 2010-2012 where a majority of live action is mainly Dan Schneider shows of iCarly, Victorious, Drake & Josh (which has been finished for years).
During this time they had many non Dan Schneider live action shows that still had new episodes to roll out. True Jackson VP, The Troop, Big Time
Rush, Supah Ninjas, Bucket & Skinners, How to Rock, Marvin Marvin.
The only non Dan Schneider show that truly got somewhat fair marketing during this time was Big Time Rush. It was only because they had higher grossing concerts and album sales then Victoria Justice and the Victorious soundtracks.
Big Time Rush Soundtrack Debut Album sold 67,000 copies in the first week charting at #3 on BB200. While the Victorious Soundtrack Debut Album sold 40,000 copies in the first week charting at #5 on BB200.

Many of these shows would just have 1, 2 seasons at most. Some of them did not even finish their original airing on Nick. The remaining episodes were burned out on Teennick or Nicktoons in small marathons with no promotion. Bucket & Skinner, The Troop, Star Falls, Hunter Street.
The only time these shows ever got promoted after their premiere is when it was combined with another Dan Schneider show.
This is an example the Dan Schneider show got a separate promo. As a 2nd promo combined with another show. - 1st promo

- 2nd promo
The other show would always be treated as a filler and not as a show itself. Which is why those shows would never do well in ratings. They gave up after the first episode on promoting them. Unless they had an one hour special but even then it was minimal.
The series’s finale of True Jackson VP “Mystery In Peru” never even got a promo. The stars themselves had to promote it on their twitters and on ClevverTV.
Another promo where they put everything in one and they made the non Dan Schneider show be placed at the end of the line up. They only promoted Bucket & Skinner because someone from a Dan Schneider show was guest starring.
They threw away shows so quickly after their first month that The fanbase of Bucket & Skinner were so upset with the mistreatment of that show by the network. They started a trend called #GiveBucketandSkinnerABillboard that became a worldwide trending topic.
The network had no choice but to air new episodes on Nickelodeon due to the attention it was causing them when this became a trending topic.
You would think though if they were going through a transitional phase they would want to promote the new content they have out?
The reason why these other Nickelodeon shows could not get the same ratings as iCarly & Victorious is because they were simply not marketed properly or fairly.
Nickelodeon did not acknowledge True Jackson VP since 2011 until Keke Palmer started co-hosting GMA 3 in 2019, as well host the VMAs in 2020 and now co-host The Real. Keke Palmers name is everywhere. A reboot of TJVP has been rumoured too.
The favouritism for Dan Schneider is transparent when the 90s are all that block debuted to rerun their back catalogue in 2011. OG Nickelodeon viewers thought the block would have variety...
The non Dan Schneider live action shows on these blocks would only air on special occasions or would just be on for a month and then taken off. Despite Clarissa Explains It All, Hey Dude and many other shows being the top shows on the network of their time.
They were treated as not equals with this block.

The block tried to revamp itself as “The Splat” in 2015 and put in more Obiscure Nickelodeon live action shows only once in a while Welcome Freshmen, Roundhouse, You can’t do that on television.
However shows like The Amanda show & All That were the only live action shows getting airtime on the block.
You can just see this TeenNick schedule and look at how much they air Dan Schneider shows on a regular basis to this day. Where is True Jackson VP? Big Time Rush? Naked Brothers Band?
