Almost every case of COVID now is the UK variant B117. We were warned about it. Told it was highly contagious yet they did nothing to stop 55k people flying in from the UK over Christmas. The huge spike started directly after this. Hospitality was blamed & used as the scapegoat
This has now resulted in the people against the people. If you say something you are shut down. If you criticise or question anything, you are told to shut up as you are not an immunologist. You don’t understand science, keep quiet.

Now saying every other death, illness and issue is now deemed irrelevant? 24 people a day dying with cancer means nothing. Increased suicide doesn’t matter. People absolutely financially destroyed isn’t serious. Undiagnosed illnesses are fine.
At some stage we are going to have to do something about all this because what is being done is not working. At some stage we are going to have to make the very hard calls like all over 70’s are locked down till vaccinated. Same with vulnerable. I know exactly how that sounds.
Both my parents are over 80. My niece has Down syndrome. I have close relatives with serious underlying conditions. I get it. But the alternative is affecting so many others and we are simply ignoring this and it has to change.
I fully understand the importance of our Taoiseach going to America. I fully get that almost 200 countries would give their right arm for this annual invite. The importance of future trade deals etc. I get it. But I also get that seriously upsetting over half the population
Of you own country is not right. Not reading the room is very poor governance. If there was no alternative there might be some argument in going but there are. Our American ambassador can go. It can be done virtually. The argument of our national rugby team travelling is silly

We are all left behind to clean up the mess. The next government blames the last but we haven’t gone anywhere. What is being done right now is so wrong on so many levels. The cracks are already here. It’s only a matter of time the damn will collapse.
I’m not an anti vaxer. I don’t believe global governments are trying to wipe out SME’s. (Even though their actions are leading towards it) I don’t believe the vaccine means bill gates will know when you take a piss. But I do believe we can certainly do better.
An example of which is simple. My restaurant sits 80 people. If I only let in 16 people we’ll spaced out and a maximum of 2 people or one household family & turned those 16 seats 3 times throughout the day, that’s enough for me to break even & no longer require subsidies.
Anyone breaks this, no warnings, automatic loss of your licence and ability to be self employed for life. Simple. It’s controlled and safe. Hairdressers allowed to operate at their break even point and every other industry too. Controlled, regulated and safe.
I don’t need someone in full time employed at home or work earning full salary, telling me we’ll be out of this soon. I don’t want to be told it’ll be the roaring 20’s again. I don’t want to be told everything is ok by people that have no idea what almost half the country is
Going through. I’m the most upbeat confident person I know and this won’t break me but fuck me it’s getting close. I’m just sick and tired of the lack of real leadership and I’m not alone. Far from it actually. What’s happening is so wrong and it needs to change immediately.
There. I said it. There is a huge elephant in the room and unless we accept this, do something about it and make the really tough decisions, the irreversible damage will be a thousand times greater than the pandemic itself.
