Shuffle Windmill Throws
I wanna continue to get faster while my main focus rn is on lifting heavy ass weights
These MB throws/slams will allow me to move fast in a way that compliments
The patterning from the plant leg up thru the chain is incredibly similar to throwing

The patterning from the plant leg up thru the chain is incredibly similar to throwing
The shuffle from my back foot into my plant leg allows me to build into my max speed by engaging the glute while also opening up at the front hip
The plant leg absorbs that momentum (force) and sends force back up thru the body
Plant foot > leg > hips > torso > arms

(Ignore my back ankle looking broken, that’s just from the angle of the pics)

My front hip opening while continuing to move laterally encourages (fast) rotation up thru the kinetic chain
It creates “positive disconnection” from my hips to my shoulders building into my rotational speed (think of a whip rearing back)

Another reason I like overhead MB throw/slam variations like this is because it works through the bow-flex-bow pattern we see in pitchers’ back mechanics while throwing
You can see what I mean in these pics from a bullpen of mine
My back starts “bowed,” flexes, and bows again

The bow-flex-bow pattern carries energy through the kinetic chain in the same wave pattern that is distributed in a whip
(Whips are very comparable for throwing mechanics if you can’t tell)
That energy needs to go overhead, which is why this pattern occurs

The BFB doesn’t happen in underhanded medball throws because the energy doesn’t need UP through the arm like in an overhead throw
That pattern would be more similar to swinging a bat
That isn’t to say those throws couldn’t be useful for pitching, just may not have the direct...

..carryover to throwing mechanics that I’ve explained here
Lastly what I like about these is the rotational slam allows the throwing arm to work through a similar range of motion as a typical throw...

You can’t see the first half (scan retraction and shoulder external rotation)
But these pictures do display the throwing arm in a similar 90° position at the torso followed by rapid internal rotation as we see in throwing

That’s about all I have to say about that. And I feel like given the length of this thread, you might be okay with that.
