(2 / 6) We are talking about chemicals that can interfere with your endocrine system, cause #cancer, mutations or infertility, or do not degrade for a long time in the environment. They are also known as "substances of very high concern" ( #SVHCs).

(3 / 6) To better protect you and the environment, substances of very high concern ( #SVHCs) may be included in the Candidate List. Once a chemical is there, the EU chemicals regulation imposes immediate obligations to companies, i.e., info on safe use.

(4 / 6) From the Candidate List they can move to the Authorisation List, meaning that they can only be placed on the market if the EU Commission authorises them and only for specific authorised uses under very strict conditions.

(5 / 6) If a chemical a company uses is included in the Candidate or Authorisation List, it means that in the long run they must stop using it or replace it with safer alternative.
