I'm working my way through synopsis critiques & wanted to share a few tips.
A synopsis is not a play by play of your book. Every sentence should directly relate to your MCs journey.
By the end of paragraph 1, I need to know what's at stake.

By paragraph 2, I should be able to see how your MC is reacting to the inciting incident and how their world is changing by choosing to go on this quest. By paragraph 3ish, I want the midpoint and how that changes everything. #askamm
After that midpoint, the heat is on! Give me pressure. Try and fail cycles. And then end it with that dark night of the soul. In paragraph 5, we rise! Show me how your hero rallies and give me all the spoilers on how they prevail. #askamm
That last paragraph is to tie up loose ends and offer a final picture of your MC and world. This is important! You want to see a satisfying ending for your story genre. #askamm
I know this is asking you to fit an entire five course meal in a salad, but here's why it's important.
It shows an agent or reader that you have a fully formed novel. It shows that you understand plot beats.
