Today, the UK Government announced its 10 Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution, designed to deliver #greenjobs a #greenrecovery and #netzero
But does it go far enough?

The good
Offshore wind: Proven clean tech that will deliver an economic energy solution and up to 60,000 jobs.
2030 #ICE vehicles ban: This is a watershed moment for the transport sector – electrify or fall behind. We support this bold pledge. https://bbc.in/2UBZcUC

The ambitious
Green homes: Delivers valuable green jobs and prevents fuel poverty. We support this ambitious pledge but fear that £1bn is not enough.
The @TheCCoalition agrees that "cosy homes" should be a key priority

Walking and cycling: We
#walkingandcycling. But this pledge needs a bold behaviour change campaign to deliver real impact.
#London as the global centre of green finance: Fantastic news! But very little on how the Government plans to actually achieve this.
The “not there yet”
Green Hydrogen: A promising but fledgling technology. #Hydrogen will have a huge role to play in the decarbonisation “end game”, unfortunately we need impact now.

Nature: Planting #trees, while important, just doesn’t feel like enough when tackling a full blown ecological crisis. We need full natural regeneration. We loved @CraigBennett3's thoughts on the #10PP and nature pledge.

Carbon Capture and Storage: Once again, an exciting prospect but realistically not ready to scale yet. We cannot rely on the prospect that one day we will capture and store #carbon.
We must minimise #emissions now! https://bit.ly/3kQFNu9
The bad
Nuclear: In just two years, the UK built the same amount of #renewableenergy generation as Hinkley Point C – a nuclear power station that is now £2.9bn over the original cost and still hasn’t generated a single KWh of electricity. https://bit.ly/2IQHnPr

The 10 point plan is ambitious, and it will at least set us on the right pathway.
But the road to. #netzero is long. £12bn is not enough spending and ultimately this plan falls well short of the trailblazing solutions that we need to deliver a real #GreenRecovery
