Opinion: Why the best Eastmed O&G projects is a
Greek project in
points:
As I wrote in my older (Mar 20) analysis, "A different approach to Eastmed gas" (link -> http://www.cybernaua.it/news/newsdett.php?idnews=8163&fbclid=IwAR0byFKhAw9r1ttYgyk0nWLOaiD48li96fYBCeixgo7Fh4xQiERvxkwe0Fo) the Eastmed pipeline is no more a real prospect
the end of the pipeline doesn't mean Eastmed gas is no more strategic. It is, the pipeline is not
the best example is given by a
company @Energean that, among its developments, holds its great FPSO E&P in
Israel on 2 blocks (Tanin/Karish)
The project is very clever/feasible because:
lower CAPEX (smaller size/closer to market/exploits some existing midstream infrastructures/shallow water)
lower OPEX (shorter pipeline/mid stream infrastructures O&M)
easier to exploit and smaller/realistic reserves
doesn't need to connect enormous/still unproven/internationally spread/unknown cost reserves (not realistic approach)
safer location, out of geopolitical issues
Can this be repeated elsewhere? For example
&
? Yes, Aphroditi & Alexandroupoli are the best example of local projects, but FLNG, FPSO, FPPs, small scale LNGs, can be implemented in a number of spots (not all), avoiding wasting time & opportunities and being realistic

The alternative is betting on an impossible pharaonic project, with the result of letting undeveloped and unexploited Eastmed gas.
