Why are anime fans--esp. Americans--screaming about the downfall of anime like the sky is falling? We have access to almost everything we could possibly want, almost all of it legally, so much of it for free. Our adaptations are AMAZING compared to two decades ago. Why the panic?
If you didn't like Kai, that's fine, and even understandable.

But regular uncensored Dragon Ball still exists. It didn't go away. Kai was just a DIFFERENT way to consume Dragon Ball in a faster way. Just don't watch Kai. https://twitter.com/YoseiSovereign/status/1296714195853930496
Sony owns the majority of Funi (95%). If a Japanese company makes that decision, I'd say that's a... Japanese decision. They make these choices for the sake of international & financial gains. Without going international, anime struggles that much harder. https://twitter.com/YoseiSovereign/status/1296714561639206912
Mind you, you're free to have that fear, but, like, it just seems irrational for people to fear and hate Funimation and Crunchyroll to the extent that they do, if JAPANESE companies made the decision to partner with them. It's not like Funi and Crunchy strongarmed them into it.
Some complain about the underpaid animators, but seem to think that they're saving anime by buying merch instead of buying anime. But merch is already licensed to a company (ex: Bandai). That won't go back to an animator. https://twitter.com/MrDanielJKing/status/1296717197260124165
