Since you're new to this I suggest you set a timer for 5-10 minutes.

Take a seat.Find a comfortable and quiet place.
Sit in a chair or on the floor with your back straight.
Close your eyes.Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.
Notice the sensation of your breath as it goes in and out.

Notice your thoughts without judgement.Each time you notice your mind has wandered bring your attention back to the breath.
Don't judge the content of the thoughts just observe them.
