Only a bastardized version of Christianity has flourished in America, because it has to appeal to the American ideal of privileged, wealthy, and comfortable people without asking for anything to change.

We don& #39;t lay our lives down in self-sacrificial love because that& #39;s not winning!
We don& #39;t turn the other cheek because that& #39;s not coming out on top!
We don& #39;t love our enemies because that& #39;s not American exceptionalism!
