The statement is obviously being read here for the first time. The alternative offered to US working with @WHO is....word salad. The United States has long been the largest financial contributor to WHO; it could have competed with China for influence in the organization....

....by competing for it. But as in so many other areas, Trump’s people, pre-pandemic, had no agenda beyond keeping Trump happy. China pressured WHO to delay sounding alarm at #COVID19 even as Xi Jinping manipulated Trump into praising Chinese transparency in fighting the virus.

Trump is for Trump: always, only for Trump. This foolish statement & rash action with respect to US funding for @WHO has no other purpose than to give the cultists & chumps in Trump’s fan base, as well as the Murdochs’ propagandists, someone else to blame for Trump’s failures.
