Quick science/ethics lesson on biological processes.

1) Some biological processes can be prevented by not taking part in an action:

- digestion: don& #39;t eat
- respiration: hold your breath
- reproduction: don& #39;t have sex

2) You cannot simply by force of will cause a biological process to start or stop

- you can& #39;t will your body to digest or not
- you can not will your body to respirate or not (you can willfully mess with tempo of respiration)
- you cannot will pregnancy to start or stop

3) Disease/illness is an example of a biological process gone wrong:

- cancer
- diabetes
- copd
- NOT PREGNANCY

4) You can alter biological processes using surgery/medicines. Whether or not it is an ethical use of time, energy, costs, materials, and risk depends on why.
