One of the reasons Germany is doing so well in this crisis is that they do not import everything. They manufacture a lot, and the government is very pro-active in keeping manufacturing capacity in the country. Every country should learn - do not import everything. Build stuff.

Building locally keeps builders honing their skills. They know how to build, so when something new needs to be built, there are enough builders available.
